About
Since the Fall of 2023, our team has been dedicated to conducting research and creating resource pages that help raise awareness about immigrant college students’ basic needs.

Research
We conducted 106 in-depth interviews with undocumented college students, and those from mixed-status families, across the country. We also conducted 52 interviews with staff members who work directly with undocumented students.

Resources
We created a series of resource pages to help you find information about applying to college or grad school, accessing legal services, securing food or transportation, and more.
What recommendations do you have for educators, counselors, and staff?
Omari, undocumented college student in Illinois
“You can always be a good support system for them […] you can always just say, ‘Oh, I can look around, do research for you and [if] anything comes around, I’ll let you know,’ and that’s going back to being a good support system for them.”
Claribel, undocumented college student in New Jersey
“I feel like it would be great if [there were] more internship options […] that could be accessible for us. Because a lot of things… they’re mostly for the internship program, but for the research programs over the summer and stuff like that, usually, you do get paid, right. But because you do get pay, you cannot apply without a social security number. So that’s a big issue. So I felt like if a lot of more of those things were funded differently.”
Liz, college student from a mixed-status family in California
“I know a lot of students from [campus] are first gen and they have mixed status families or they’re immigrants as well. I know they feel lost sometimes. So, if the professors or other staff members know what they’re going through, it’ll be helpful, not only for how they’re going to structure their class, but also how they could really provide that support.”
